ISR Internationale Schule am Rhein in Neuss, as a member of the SABIS® School Network, is academically-oriented without being highly selective. The criterion for acceptance in a grade is academic attainment, rather than age, although age acts as a limiting factor.
Placement
Placement into a grade at ISR is determined by establishing a student's academic attainment, with age acting as a limiting factor. Student attainment is measured on diagnostic test for students in grades 1-12.
There are no academic requirements for acceptance into Kindergarten, although students for KG1 must turn 3 by June 30th in the year they will enter the program.They must also be able to speak and follow simple instructions, as well as be toilet-trained.

| The admission process is intended to be personal and informative for all prospective families. Below is a schedule of admissions activities and the general order in which they occur. |

Interested families are encouraged to visit ISR for a tour of the campus and talk with our Marketing & Admissions staff as well as with a member from the ISR Corporate Department regarding school place reservation. To initiate the admission process, ISR must receive a completed application. There is no application deadline, but it is recommended that the admission process be initiated in late winter or early spring for the next school year. Applications are accepted on a place-available basis throughout the school year. |

Should a family want to its child to start in spring of the running academic year, ISR does not permit students to start later than April 30. ISR feels that it is academically too late in the year and puts undue stress on the student to be ready for final exams in late June. |

All applicants for admission to ISR from Grade 3 are invited to participate in a typical school day as part of the admission process. Visiting students have the opportunity to meet staff members and fellow students, become familiar with classroom and behavior expectations, and to experience the general atmosphere of the school. Day visits are scheduled by appointment only through the Registrar at +49 (0)2131/403 88-162. |

All candidates for grades 1-12 must sit diagnostic tests as part of the admission process. Prospective students at Grades 1 and 2 are interviewed and tested by the Lower Primary Coordinator. Students testing for grades 3-12 sit tests in the core subjects of English, mathematics, and German if applicable. Candidates testing for grades 10-12 must also sit at least one social science and one science test, plus a third language if applicable. |

Upon completion, the diagnostic tests are marked and the results considered and help to determine if the students have attained the minimum expected standard for each subject. |

The final placement decision is made by the school, and the family is informed, in writing, of the placement. |

The total length of time needed to complete diagnostic testing varies from 30 minutes for students in grades 1 and 2 to three hours for those students in grades 3-9.
Students testing to Grades 10-12 are usually tested over two days due to the increased amount of material to be tested. |

ISR Internationale Schule am Rhein in Neuss requests that parents/guardians of all applicants provide the release of current school records including transcripts, test results from the previous two years, if applicable, and any psychological/ neurological evaluations. |

These forms should be turned in to our Registrar upon initiation of the admissions process in support of the application. A final admissions decision cannot be made without this information. |

Admissions decisions are made after careful evaluation of candidates to determine the appropriateness of the ISR Internationale Schule am Rhein in Neuss and its program of study for each candidate. Results of diagnostic testing and previous school records are considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional criteria for admission include motivation, social and emotional development, willingness to work hard, and the ability of ISR International Schule am Rhein in Neuss to accommodate the needs the candidate. |
